First Team Performance Analyst

Sporting Jobs are working on behalf of a professional football club in the South UK to recruit a dedicated and skilled First Team Performance Analyst. Our client is looking for an analytical thinker with a passion for football and a proven ability to use data and video insights to enhance team and individual performance.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the Head Coach and technical staff are equipped with accurate and insightful performance analysis, both pre- and post-match. This role requires a proactive approach to data-driven analysis and innovation, as well as excellent collaboration with internal teams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing data-driven insights to support the improvement of individual and team performance.
  • Analysing opposition teams and styles of play to inform game plans.
  • Coding and analysing match footage pre-match, during games, and post-match.
  • Developing and maintaining a library of best practices and individual player clips.
  • Filming and live coding first-team matches and training sessions.
  • Delivering presentations and data reports for pre-match preparation and post-match reviews.
  • Collaborating with the Head Coach, Director of Football, and other technical staff to ensure insights align with tactical objectives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • A solid understanding of performance data sources such as Wyscout, Opta, and StatsBomb.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and performance analysis software.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
  • A degree in a relevant field (e.g., sports science, data analysis) is required, with further qualifications to Master’s level being advantageous.

Additional Information:
The role will require flexible working hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel to all first-team matches and training camps.
