Head of Sport Science

Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Head of Sport Science to join a leading Championship football club based in the South West of England. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the performance and well-being of players through cutting-edge sports science methodologies and practices. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of a competitive and ambitious club.

Key Responsibilities:

Performance Analysis:

    • Develop and implement performance monitoring systems to track and analyse player performance.
    • Utilise data and technology to provide actionable insights and recommendations to the coaching staff.

Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation:

    • Design and oversee injury prevention programs tailored to individual player needs.
    • Collaborate with medical staff to manage injury rehabilitation and ensure optimal recovery.

Fitness and Conditioning:

    • Plan and deliver fitness and conditioning programs to enhance player endurance, strength, and agility.
    • Conduct regular fitness assessments and adjust training programs accordingly.

Research and Innovation:

    • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in sports science and integrate innovative practices into the club's programs.
    • Conduct research projects to further the club's understanding of sports science and player development.

Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with coaches, medical staff, and other departments to ensure a holistic approach to player care.
    • Communicate findings and strategies effectively to players, coaches, and management.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in Sport Science, Exercise Physiology, or a related field (Master’s or PhD preferred).
  • Proven experience in a sports science role within a professional football environment.
  • Strong knowledge of performance analysis, injury prevention, and rehabilitation techniques.
  • Proficiency in using sports science technology and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
