Presenting to Tomorrow's Sports Industry Leaders at University Talk.
A commitment that Sporting Jobs has made this year is to continue nurturing the next generation of sports professionals and assisting those embarking on their journey into the sports industry for the first time. A notable instance of this commitment can be seen in our strategic partnerships with universities. This week, Harry Lynch, Recruitment Director at Sporting Jobs, took centre stage as a guest lecturer at Coventry University. There, he engaged with undergraduate and postgraduate students across various disciplines, from Sports Management and Marketing to HR and Performance.
Among the attendees of the lecture were over 50 students, all equally passionate and eager to learn more about Sporting Jobs. As part of his presentation, Harry also provided insights into other aspects of our group, offering an overview of Sporting Group International, our sponsorship agency facilitating significant deals from Front of Shirt campaigns to Stadium Naming rights for Sports Teams and SGI Sports Management, our Talent Management agency working primarily with Male and Female players in Football.
Throughout his session, Harry shared invaluable insights into navigating careers in the dynamic world of sports. He covered topics such as career advice, internships, current opportunities, strategies for standing out in a competitive landscape, and essential tips for crafting compelling CVs and acing interviews. Drawing from his extensive experience in the field, Harry provided practical advice and highlighted key resources, including websites, podcasts, and materials, to aid students in their journey towards fulfilling roles within the sports industry.
Reflecting on his experience at Coventry University, Harry expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "I thoroughly enjoyed lecturing to the cohort of graduates at the Uni and found that the group asked a range of thought-provoking questions. Engaging with individuals who also share my passion for sports was incredibly inspiring, and I hope that our business can continue to support those building a career in Sport."
When asked for more generic advice for graduates in Sport, Harry shared, “As part of my talk, I reached out to 10 contacts of mine across various roles and Sports including Football, F1 & a Sports Marketing Agency, who were all in Senior positions in our industry, and attended Coventry University for their degree. I asked them for a piece of advice for the graduates in the room, and to summarise the most valued advice I got, it was to always be networking. Use every opportunity to meet and talk with those in your desired sector and always be willing to meet people, have that coffee, and ask those questions”.
Sporting Jobs is also pleased to announce its intensified focus on graduate roles within the sports sector. Spearheading this initiative is Ciaran Durham, Talent Manager at Sporting Jobs. With a background in Sports Marketing from Manchester Metropolitan University, Ciaran brings a wealth of expertise and firsthand understanding to his role. He will oversee recruitment efforts across various domains, including football, sports agencies, motorsport, and beyond, ensuring that graduates are equipped with the necessary support and opportunities to kickstart their careers in sports.
